Delta Zeta's national philanthropy partner is Starkey Hearing Foundation which desires to give the gift of hearing to those in need, while empowering them to achieve their potential. Their belief is that hearing is a vehicle to reflect caring about others and to improve the lives of individuals, their families, and communities. This simple, but powerful belief inspired the founding of the Starkey Hearing Foundation and is the foundation behind what they continually seek to do.
The Delta Zeta Foundation was formed in 1961 with a goal of enriching the lives of members, as well as Delta Zeta as a whole in order to be recognized as a premier women's organization. The foundation provides resources that are essential for the educational, leadership, and philanthropic activities of each Delta Zeta chapter.
In 2014, a sister of the Pi Alpha chapter began a relationship between Delta Zeta, parents of children with hearing loss, the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, and the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Florida by hosting the Conference on Pediatric Hearing Loss. The event provided education for professionals and parents working with children with hearing loss.
Each year Delta Zeta holds two events that help us provide support for those in need of cochlear implants. In the fall we hold Clay Classic, which is a skeet shooting competition during our Family Weekend at Gator Skeet and Trap. This year we raised $31,806.19! This past spring we held our first ever Getting Cheesy With DZ, a grilled cheese fundraiser. The event was a success and we raised $3,920.34!
